ISSA Street Skills Trainer, fully resourced street soccer program
The ISSA Street skills trainer is a fully resourced 6 week program for any teacher, youth worker or coach to use to deliver an effective street soccer program with a group of young people. The program is designed to teach the children the tools for learning using footballl as a vehicle and utilising the high impact resources supplied. The program covers 6 themes of personal development and includes session plans, performance profile booklets with links to online skills videos, posters for the training area and certificates for all of the participants on the program.
The program couldnt be simpler to use...

Step 1 Session Delivery:
The street skills trainer comes with 6 x session plans on how to run high impact street soccer games. The program is designed for teachers/coaches of all sporting abilities to be able to deliver as it is based around simple street soccer games. The session plans show you how to set up the game and the rules for each game. The program also comes with links to videos on how to reinforce the sessions visually. The small sided games are designed to be simple yet loads of fun, the theory behind this is that the game becomes the teacher ensuring lots of touches on the ball with multiple direction play to increase childrens body awareness, balance, timing and coordination.
NB School teachers could ask a local coach to deliver these sessions as part of their PPA time using the session plans provided.
Step 2 Hand out performance profile booklets:
The booklets follow a different personal development theme each week. The themes covered include:
- Dreams and Goals
- Making positive choices
- Taking action
- Taking responsibility
- Positive attitude
- Making mistakes
The young person fills in the booklet and reflects on the themes. The booklet links to a secure password protected area where the young person learns the skill for that week. The skills are some of the most up to date modern skills of the game filmed by Darren Laver, Director of Coaching for the ISSA. Darren provides skills training videos for UEFAs training ground and is well respected as being the leading educator in street soccer and its role in skill development in the world.
"Allowing children to understand the skills to achieve challenges is far more important that the challenge itself. The underpinning factor linked to the ISSA Skills Trainer, is we want young people to be know how capable they are of achieving high standards. The programme will teach children to be able to cope with challenges, set goals, make positive choices, and learn about the importance of making mistakes and to always strike to improve and aim higher. As Michelangelo once said, the problem is not for human beings that we aim too high and fail, it's more that we aim too low and succeed. The Skills Trainer has been built to help children aim high and succeed." Darren Laver
Step 3 The player goes online to and learns the skill linked to that session:
Each booklet has a password on the front giving players access to the skills for that week. The participant learns the skills online and then shows their teacher, youth worker or coach at the next session. The video player and video selection screen are branded with your organisation/company name and logo to give you ownership of the program.
Step 4 Repeat the above steps for 6 sessions!
Step 5 Print certificates and distribute them to the players
ISSA skills trainer online management portal
As the program coordinator you have access to a online management tool where you set up the dates for the 6 sessions, this limits video access to the players on the program until after the session has run. This helps structure the program and ensures players dont rush through and attempt to learn all of the moves on the first week!
This management tool also gives you access to session plans to download and also gives access to videos where you can watch how to set up the games in the sessions.
Branded player portal
The video player the players get access to is fully branded with your company name and logo. This is on the video player itself and the video selection screen.
"The ISSA have now launched the Skills Trainer. This excellent product gives, coaches, teacher, parents etc the ability to run the most high impact skills training sessions for young children. The resource pack will allow those who may not have great coaching ability or demonstration to really give their children the most exciting training in skill development. But more importantly the programme will allow children to understand what it takes to achieve their goals by integrating messages that will instil the tools to accelerate their learning, cope with challenges, work in teams and really succeed, whether this is on the pitch, in the classroom or at home."
