Street Soccer and Futsal Match Exhibitions - Friday Jan 6th, 2012 - San Jose, CA

The first of several exhibitions during the 10-day tour of N. CA took place alongside the nationally known Legends Futsal Club. The Legends Futsal club (formerly MACSA) is the most successful futsal club in the United States with more than 40 national championships in the past 10 years. A combined marketing effort helped pack the local East San Jose Washington Youth Center with more than 200 people; one of the largest crowds the youth center has had, with some driving from over an hour away to attend.
The evening began with Darren Laver, from the 'International Street Soccer Association' and Louie Mata from ‘Soccer in Slow Motion’ hosting a street soccer exhibition for more than 40 players. The players all enjoyed the new skill challenges that the ISSA brings to sessions and everyone enjoyed the small-sided games in the specially built inflatable fields with the fast-paced music playing in the background. Covering the event throughout the evening were representatives from Image One Graphic Design for photos, and Moes Originals for the video work.
The evening concluded with the Legends F.C. playing a match against a professional indoor soccer team, the Turlock Express. As expected, the indoor team was no match on the futsal court against the veteran futsal players; the game ended 6-1. San Jose City Council member Xavier Campos attended to present commendation awards to the 2011 Legends National Futsal Teams.
